I painted Aerith with my late cat, Mong, in the style of Claude Monet because I wanted to express the beauty and sadness in yearning and longing for someone that can no longer be there with you. It's like they still exist so strongly in your heart, you're still not done loving them, and yet they are always still a distance away.
